Functional Infrastructure, Safety, Our Tourism Strategies – Aiyedatiwa

by Roving

For people to come to our state, we need to ensure safety, functional infrastructure, and a welcoming atmosphere. This, we have been working on since we came on board, says Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to creating a tourism-friendly environment backed by strategic investment and security reforms.

Aiyedatiwa made this known on Saturday while receiving members of the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), led by its President, Hajia Bolaji Mustapha, at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Akure.

The Governor emphasized that tourism cannot thrive without peace, safety, and access.

He said his government has prioritized infrastructure upgrades across the state — including road networks and airport facilities — to improve regional connectivity and open up Ondo’s tourism corridors.

“We have moved from isolated access to regional connectivity. Our roads and airport are being upgraded to support our vision for tourism-driven growth,” he added.

He highlighted the state’s broader achievements in infrastructure development, security architecture, and ease of doing business, noting that these improvements are key to attracting local and international investors into the tourism and hospitality sectors.

The Governor also stressed that Ondo is ready to lead in unlocking Nigeria’s untapped tourism potential, providing a secure and business-friendly environment, and building partnerships with credible investors and stakeholders.

He commended NATOP for including Ondo State in their national familiarization tour and assured them of the government’s continued support for private-sector tourism initiatives.

Earlier, NATOP President Hajia Bolaji Mustapha applauded the serene, friendly, and secure environment in Ondo State, commending the Governor’s passion for improving the welfare of the people.

She revealed that the group visited Araromi Beach in Ilaje Local Government Area and described it as one of the finest coastal tourism destinations in Nigeria.

She expressed optimism about the vast tourism potential in the state and lauded the Governor’s visionary steps toward attracting investors.
