Ondo State Police Command has arrested a prime suspect linked to the horrifying murder of two missing students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Andrel Eloho Okah and John Friday Abba.

The suspect was apprehended alongside three other accomplices, after detectives tracked them to their hideouts following the discovery of the victims’ corpses.

Police sources confirmed that the identity of the lead suspect is being withheld to avoid compromising the ongoing investigation.

The two undergraduates had been declared missing until their lifeless bodies were found buried in a shallow grave within a dense forest bordering Ondo and Ekiti States.

Andrel Okah was a student in the Department of History and International Studies, Faculty of Arts, while John Abba was in the Department of Economics, Faculty of Agriculture at AAUA.

A reliable source, who pleaded anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the case, disclosed that the suspect led the police to the exact location where the victims were buried.

“The prime suspect has been arrested and is currently providing useful information to the authorities. Their corpses have been recovered and deposited in the morgue,” the source stated.

The discovery was chilling. The female victim, Okah, was reportedly found naked, severely brutalized, and bound before she was murdered.

“She was tortured, tied, and left to die in the bush. It’s a tragic case. Security operatives are intensifying efforts to uncover the full details and motive behind the killings,” the source added.

Confirming the incident earlier, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adebowale Lawal, revealed the details during a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusola Odunsola, in Akure.

“We went all the way near the Ekiti State boundary where the bodies of the students were exhumed. They had been buried inside the bush,” CP Lawal said.

During the meeting, CP Lawal also expressed concern over rising security threats in the state, especially in certain ‘flashpoint’ areas. He condemned the increasing number of vehicles without license plates plying roads across the state.

Reliable sources at the meeting said the Police Commissioner appealed to the Chief Judge to help fast-track decisions on long-standing criminal cases pending in the State High Courts, as part of efforts to strengthen justice and security delivery in Ondo State.
