It was a moment of pride and celebration for the people of Ondo City as one of their own, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, FNSE, FNICE, was officially sworn in as a Commissioner in Ondo State by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Monday, July 14, 2025.
The inauguration, which took place alongside the swearing-in of 15 other commissioners, marked a new phase of governance in the state.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, during his address, urged the new commissioners to uphold their oath of office, key into the state’s development agenda, and steer clear of distractions that may undermine their roles.
Engr. Olawoye, who was assigned the portfolio of Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, reaffirmed his dedication to public service, pledging to deploy his vast technical expertise and deep-rooted knowledge in infrastructure to advance the developmental vision of the Aiyedatiwa-led administration.
Shortly after the official ceremony in Akure, the commissioner was treated to a grand homecoming reception in Ondo City, his hometown in Ondo West Local Government Area.
The atmosphere was electric as a massive crowd gathered to celebrate their illustrious son, whose appointment is seen as a reward for hard work, integrity, and competence.
Dignitaries from across the state graced the reception, including the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji; Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Omowumi Isaac.
Others were House of Representatives member, Hon. Abiola Makinde; Chief Whip of the Assembly, Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi; Hon. Morenike Witherspoon; Dr. Jibayo Adeyeye; and Hon. Tomide Akinribido.
Also present were traditional rulers, leaders of various youth and women groups, political stakeholders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Ondo State.
The celebration was not only a show of solidarity but a strong vote of confidence in Engr. Olawoye’s capacity to deliver on his new assignment.
