The Ondo State Police Command has made a major breakthrough in the harrowing case of two missing students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), whose disappearance on June 20, 2025, sparked outrage and concern among students and residents.
Briefing Newsmen in Akure, the police commissioner, Adebowale Lawal, said both victims—25-year-old Abah John Friday and his 19-year-old friend, Okah Andrel Eloho—were abducted, robbed, raped, and ultimately murdered in cold blood. The perpetrators allegedly include the landlord of one of the victims.
He said investigation was launched following a petition submitted by legal representatives of Mr. Emmanuel Peter, the elder brother of one of the victims.
According to the police commissioner, Acting swiftly, detectives traced the victims’ mobile devices to Lagos, where an iPhone 14 Pro Max was recovered from one Abdul Mohammed Mubarak.
Mubarak revealed he bought the phone from one Ojo Michael, who was subsequently arrested in Aramoko-Ekiti.
During interrogation, Michael confessed to participating in the gruesome crime and led investigators to the mastermind—Oladele Femi, the landlord of the male victim.
Femi allegedly plotted the crime with Michael and a third suspect, identified only as Kola (still at large), after learning that the victim had over ₦800,000 in his account.
The suspects reportedly transferred the money while holding the students captive. Michael admitted to raping the female victim.
Fearing exposure after she identified him, the criminals murdered both students and dumped their bodies at separate locations in Ekiti State.
The decomposed body of the female victim was recovered in a bush near Ode-Ekiti and deposited at the mortuary.
Mr Lawal said efforts were underway to recover the remains of the male victim, believed to have been dumped in a river.
The Command has vowed to ensure full prosecution of all those involved. “This case is a tragic reminder of how betrayal and greed can lead to monstrous crimes. We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring justice for the victims,” the commissioner read.
