A trusted driver employed by a Lagos-based pastor has landed in police custody after allegedly stealing his employer’s delivery vehicle and attempting to escape through Ondo State.
According to the Ondo State Police Command, the incident occurred on July 6, 2025, when credible intelligence reached their Control Room that a white LT bus, with registration number Lagos LND 407 YF, reported stolen in Lagos, was heading towards the Ore/Benin axis—loaded with packs of yoghurt.
Acting swiftly, detectives from the Ore Area Command mounted a coordinated stop-and-search operation that led to the interception of the vehicle at a filling station in Ore. Two suspects were arrested at the scene: Jimoh Abdulmumuni, 28, the driver, and Jeremiah Lebe Igwe, 50.
During interrogation, Jimoh confessed that he had been employed by the owner of the vehicle, Pastor Segun, of Gbagada, Lagos. Exploiting the trust placed in him, he made away with the vehicle loaded with goods meant for delivery.
“The suspect admitted that he was the driver of the vehicle and used that opportunity to divert the bus for personal gain,” the police statement read.
The stolen bus and goods were recovered, and the suspects are currently in police custody. Authorities confirm that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion.
