Stop Killing Yourself Softly – Ondo Pastor warns Youths on Drug Abuse

A cleric, Pastor Sunday Eyebiokin, has issued a stern warning to Nigerian youths over the rising abuse of illicit drugs, describing it as a major threat to the nation’s development.

Eyebiokin, who is the District Superintendent of the Grace of Mercy District and Shepherd at the Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain, Adamimogo, Irese Road, Akure, made the call during a Sunday sermon at the church headquarters in the Ondo State capital.

He lamented that drug abuse among young people has reached an alarming level, with many indulging due to curiosity, peer pressure, low self-esteem, anxiety, and lack of proper guidance.

“Drug abuse is not beneficial in any way. Instead, it causes severe damage to the organs and the entire body system,” he declared.

The cleric cautioned youths to stay away from all forms of harmful substances, warning that addiction often leads to crime and self-destruction.

“Why must you take something you know will harm your body or get you into trouble? Drug addiction can drive a person into vices just to sustain the habit,” he said.

He also urged parents to be more observant and proactive about their children’s activities, adding that timely intervention could save many from the trap of addiction.

“Ask questions when you notice strange behaviours. Conduct secret investigations, and don’t leave your children’s welfare to chance,” he advised.

Pastor Eyebiokin stressed that every Nigerian must play a role in addressing the scourge of drug abuse, which he said is eroding the moral and social fabric of the society.
