The Federal Government has announced a compassionate resolution to two recent high-profile aviation incidents involving Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, and Ms. Comfort Emmanson, the young female passenger earlier detained for unruly conduct aboard an Ibom Air flight.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), disclosed on Wednesday that after consultations with stakeholders, both parties would receive clemency following public apologies and expressions of remorse.

For Ms. Emmanson, Ibom Air has agreed to withdraw its complaint, paving the way for her release from Kirikiri Prison this week.

The Airline Operators of Nigeria have also consented to lift the lifetime flying ban imposed on her, with further details to be announced.

In Kwam 1’s case, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reduced his flight ban to one month, with the Fuji star set to work with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) as an ambassador for airport security protocols.

The NCAA will also withdraw its criminal complaint against him.

“These decisions were made purely on compassionate grounds,” Keyamo said, stressing that the government remains committed to strict enforcement of aviation safety and security laws going forward.
