The Ondo State Government has dismissed three widely circulated political claims made in the past week, describing them as “orchestrated falsehoods” aimed at discrediting the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
According to Allen Sowore, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Strategic Communication, the false claims ranged from alleged denial of access to the Deputy Governor’s lodge, to reports of a ₦31 billion judiciary complex collapse, and allegations that the Governor ordered the removal of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign billboards.
The first claim, which alleged that the Deputy Governor was locked out of his official residence over political disagreements, was dismissed after Sowore visited the premises.
“The residence had just been remodeled, comprehensively renovated, and was ready for use,” he said.
On the reported structural failure at the state’s new Judiciary Complex in Akure, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Abiola Olawoye, led an inspection tour on Tuesday, August 12, alongside engineers, journalists, and other stakeholders.
The inspection covered all ten buildings in the project, including the ceremonial court, modular courts A to G, the utility building, and the registry.
The team found no evidence of structural failure and confirmed that construction was ongoing according to specifications.
The third allegation claimed that the Governor had authorised the removal of President Tinubu’s campaign billboards. Sowore described the report as “illogical,” pointing to the 2024 governorship election period when Aiyedatiwa, as an incumbent candidate, did not order the removal of any of his 18 opponents’ campaign materials.
Sowore accused unnamed political actors of deliberately creating tension. “Their goal is to sow confusion and chaos, but this blackmail and propaganda campaign will remain an exercise in futility,” he said.
