Tension as Forum Alleges Abuja Plot to Witch-Hunt Aiyedatiwa’s Cabinet

by Roving

Political tension is brewing in Ondo State as the Sunshine Democratic Forum (SDF) has raised alarm over what it described as a “grand conspiracy” to destabilise the state and witch-hunt key members of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration.

Coordinator of the Forum, Adedeji Obasola, said in a strongly worded statement that reliable intelligence at their disposal indicates that powerful politicians within the state are working hand-in-hand with Abuja allies to orchestrate a crackdown on the governor’s loyalists.

According to Obasola, the plot allegedly involves deploying security agencies to harass and intimidate top government officials, including Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN; Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac; and Chief of Protocol, Olusanya Abayomi—all under the guise of trumped-up allegations.

The Forum described the move as “political terrorism,” warning that Ondo must not be turned into a battlefield for selfish interests. It vowed to resist any attempt to distract Governor Aiyedatiwa from his mandate of good governance.

The group also accused certain “sponsored pseudo-civil society organisations” of being heavily financed to incite unrest and whip up public anger against the government.

Meanwhile, in a seeming contrast to the growing political storm, Ondo First Lady, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, publicly commended her husband’s administration, describing it as visionary and people-focused.

Speaking at an event in Akure, the governor’s wife highlighted ongoing economic growth, youth empowerment programmes, and the governor’s commitment to female leadership.

“I must acknowledge and appreciate the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his visionary leadership and people-centred governance,” she declared.

The political drama has, however, sparked fresh debate within Ondo’s political space: Is Aiyedatiwa under siege from within—or is this another case of power play ahead of 2027?
