A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Akure has ordered the remand of a 42-year-old pastor, Samson Ajayi, at the Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly raping his 17-year-old biological daughter for over four years.
Ajayi, who confessed to the crime, told the court that he was under the influence of a “generational curse,” claiming his father once abused his own sister.
According to the prosecution, the abuse occurred repeatedly between March 2021 and August 2025 at the family’s residence in Igoba, Ondo State.
The case came to light after the victim’s mother noticed unusual signs in the house and persuaded her daughter to speak up, leading her to report the matter to the police.
The prosecutor, Supol Martins Olowofeso, explained that the offences contravened the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, 2021.
He also requested Ajayi’s remand, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Ajayi’s lawyer, Kehinde Osadugba, attempted to seek a settlement on the grounds that the victim’s mother had forgiven him due to his role as the family’s breadwinner.
However, Magistrate Taiwo Lebi rejected the request, stressing that the seriousness of the offence and Ajayi’s own confession warranted his remand.
The case has been adjourned until November 20, 2025, for further review.
