Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has announced sweeping reforms to strengthen emergency medical services across the state, including the revitalisation of the Ondo State Emergency Medical Services Agency (ODEMSA) and the reactivation of the State Emergency Call Centre.
The governor, who disclosed this while commissioning health projects in Akure on Friday, said his administration had granted approval for the procurement of additional ambulances to enhance rapid response to emergencies across the state.
Aiyedatiwa stressed that emergency medical response remained a top priority under his administration’s OUR EASE agenda, adding that quick interventions in critical health situations save lives and reduce preventable deaths.
According to him, the state government is determined to ensure that no community is left behind in accessing quality healthcare during emergencies.
“Our government is revitalising the Emergency Medical Services Agency to provide 24-hour response across the state. We have also approved the reactivation of the Emergency Call Centre in Ondo, which will serve as a central hub for coordination and rapid deployment of ambulances to save lives,” the governor said.
The governor reaffirmed that investment in healthcare infrastructure and services was part of his broader strategy to expand affordable healthcare access, noting that emergency response would now be integrated into the state’s contributory health insurance schemes.
