In a landmark step toward strengthening clinical administration, the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital has announced the appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Olaseinde Bello as the first Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC).
The appointment was confirmed by the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Olusegun Ojo, who emphasized the importance of the Medical Advisory Committee as the administrative head of the Directorate of Clinical Services — one of the three principal directorates governing federal teaching hospitals across Nigeria.
Dr. Bello, a seasoned Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist, brings a wealth of clinical experience, academic distinction, and leadership to his new role.
Profile of Dr. Emmanuel Olaseinde Bello
Dr. Bello studied Medicine at the College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and proceeded to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital for his Residency Training.
He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in Paediatrics, specializing in Paediatrics and Neonatology.
His career trajectory began in 2015 at the former State Specialist Hospital, Akure, where he served as Consultant Paediatrician.
He later became one of the founding medical staff at the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) Teaching Hospital, Ondo State.
In addition, he has held the position of Head of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, where he is also a Senior Lecturer.
Beyond his clinical and academic practice, Dr. Bello has served on several critical hospital and university committees, including the Infection Prevention and Control Team and the Hospital/Community Liaison Committee.
An accomplished researcher, Dr. Bello has published widely in respected Nigerian and international journals. He is equally a mentor to medical students and resident doctors, earning high regard as a dedicated teacher.
Dr. Bello is married and a father, embodying a blend of professionalism, leadership, and personal commitment.
With his new appointment as the inaugural CMAC Chairman of FUTA Teaching Hospital, Dr. Bello is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the hospital’s clinical services and advancing healthcare delivery in Akure and beyond.
