Ijogun Hails Credible Process …Olowookere Emerges Global President
The Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure (OGSA) Alumni Association has elected a new Global Executive Council to pilot its affairs for the next four years, beginning January 2026.
The election, held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the school premises in Akure, featured both physical and virtual participation by delegates from across the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Nigeria, and other African countries. Voting lasted for about six hours.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Chief S. I. Folorunsho, while announcing the results, commended both contestants and delegates for their orderly conduct.
He also lauded the outgoing Global President, Dr. Niyi Ijogun, for his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition through a transparent process.
In his remarks, Dr. Ijogun described the election as credible, fair, and transparent, noting that it was the first of its kind in the association’s history.
He attributed the success to the recent review of the alumni constitution and newly incorporated electoral guidelines.
“I am proud that OGSA continues to set the pace. The elected officers have shown consistency and dedication in service to the association across their branches,” Ijogun said.
He congratulated the new executives, urging them to see their emergence as a call to serve the alma mater, while assuring them of the support of over 40,000 members worldwide.
The new Global President, Hon. Afe Olowookere, Ph.D., expressed gratitude to the delegates and members of the association for the confidence reposed in him and his team.
He described the mandate as “a call to service,” promising to build on the legacies of the Ijogun-led council.
“We will work with unity and purpose, seeking the cooperation of all stakeholders to lift Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, to enviable heights,” Olowookere assured.
