Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has secured the final judicial seal on his mandate as the duly elected Governor of Ondo State, following the dismissal of the appeal challenging his victory in the November 16, 2024 governorship election.

The Supreme Court, sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, struck out the case after the appellant, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the election, formally withdrew his petition.

With this judgment, the long-drawn legal battle over the 2024 governorship poll has come to an end, solidifying Aiyedatiwa’s position as the rightful winner.

The governor, who was present in court, hailed the ruling as a victory for democracy and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering good governance and inclusive development to the people of Ondo State.

Political analysts say the outcome is a significant boost to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, while some observers view Agboola’s withdrawal as a turning point for the PDP’s opposition strategy in the state.
