The Action Alliance (AA) and the Progressives Network for Tinubu (PNT) have entered into a coalition aimed at securing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general elections in Ondo State.
Despite being an opposition party, AA said it would remain in its fold while working to ensure Tinubu’s victory, citing what it described as the president’s positive impact on Nigeria’s economy.
At a strategic meeting in Akure, PNT’s Director General, Pastor Olumide Obadele, disclosed that the alliance was facilitated by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, alongside Ondo APC chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin.
Obadele explained that the coalition aims to deliver over 80 percent of total votes in Ondo State to Tinubu in 2027 by mobilising massive voter turnout.
He lamented the low turnout during the 2023 presidential election, where out of 1,991,344 registered voters in the state, only 532,739 cast their ballots — representing just 28.62 percent.
“This is nothing but voter apathy, and it is not good enough for our democracy,” Obadele said. “We are determined to change this pattern by educating and mobilising the electorate across Ondo State in support of President Tinubu.”
Obadele stressed that the group was not engaging in campaigns yet but preparing the ground to rally support across political parties, religious groups, organisations, and all eligible voters in the state.
He added that the Tinubu administration’s achievements in the economy, agriculture, and infrastructure would speak for themselves when campaign season begins.
“Our group is a blend of old and new politicians driven by passion and energy. We are peace ambassadors, not violent or cantankerous, and we are fully committed to the vision of Asiwaju,” he said.
