A fatal road crash on Sunday along the expressway in Itaogbolu axis of akure – Ado Ekiti road has left at least five people dead, sparking urgent calls for emergency response.
Eyewitnesses reported that the accident involved a commercial bus and a truck.
A video shared on Facebook by Bola Awofisayo showed the lifeless bodies of victims laid by the roadside, while the driver of the bus remained trapped behind the wheel.
The disturbing footage has heightened concerns as residents and commuters appealed to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Police Force to immediately deploy rescue teams to the scene.
“The situation is critical. Emergency vehicles and personnel are needed to manage the tragedy and prevent further loss of life,” Awofisayo wrote.
Families of the victims have been thrown into mourning as the Itaogbolu community struggles to come to terms with the deadly crash.
Confirming the accident, the state Sector Commander of FRSC, Samuel Ibitoye said the accident was caused by excessive speeding.
He said the remains of the victims, two male and three female had been evacuated by the command and had been deposited at the morgue of a government Hospital in Akure.
