The Secretary of the Coalition of All Civil Society Organisations in Ondo State (CACSOD), Ayomide Faith Jaiyeola, has dissociated herself from a press statement recently issued in the name of the coalition condemning the mass defection of lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement made available to Roving Reporters on Sunday, Jaiyeola said she neither authored, endorsed, nor consented to the release, insisting that the inclusion of her name and designation as a signatory was done without her knowledge or authorization.
“I, Ayomide Faith Jaiyeola, wish to state clearly that I did not author, endorse, or sign the press statement purportedly issued by the Coalition of All Civil Society Organisations in Ondo State (CACSOD). Any inclusion of my name or designation as a signatory was made without my consent or authorization,” she said.
“I therefore dissociate myself entirely from the contents and positions expressed in the said document.”
Jaiyeola further clarified that she had no involvement in the preparation or dissemination of the statement.
She reaffirmed her commitment to ethical standards and transparency in civil society engagement, noting that her office as secretary does not automatically imply endorsement of all documents issued under the coalition’s name unless duly reviewed and approved by her.
The disclaimer comes amid reactions trailing the CACSOD statement, which described the total defection of lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly as a “threat to democracy” and “a betrayal of the people’s mandate.”
