The children, family and friends of former Ondo State Commissioner for Transport, Otunba Omoniyi Omodara, on Sunday converged on St. John’s Anglican Church, Oba-Ile, to commemorate the 50th remembrance of their late patriarch, Pa Ezekiel Omodara Akogun.
The memorial service, held amid tributes and reflections, brought together relatives, community members and friends who recalled the life of the late community leader, described as a man of integrity, discipline and faith.
In her remarks, Mrs. Funke Akintide noted that their father’s unwavering support, discipline and guidance shaped the lives of his children.
“He taught us to walk in truth, stay humble and remain committed to the values of hard work and honesty,” she said.
Also speaking, Otunba Omoniyi Omodara said their father’s legacies would forever remain a compass for the family.
“His strength, wisdom and kindness inspired us to be strong, resilient and compassionate. Those virtues continue to guide us every day,” he said.
Similarly, Comrade Victor Omodara, a seasoned administrator and unionist, recalled losing his father at a young age but affirmed that his father’s spirit of discipline and hard work shaped his journey to success.

Delivering the sermon, Rev. Joshua Adeleke, vicar of St. John’s Anglican Church, Oba-Ile, urged the congregation to live as ambassadors of Christ and to use their God-given talents for the service of humanity and the glory of God.
A key moment of the occasion was the dedication of Abiodun Omodara as a life member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Oba-Ile.
Pa Ezekiel Omodara Akogun, who passed on October 7, 1975, is survived by several children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
