2027: Ondo APC Aborigines Vow 400,000 Votes for Tinubu’s Re-Election

Elders and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, under the aegis of the Aborigines Group, have pledged their total support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a target of mobilising at least 400,000 additional votes across the state’s 18 local government areas.

The group’s convener and former Nigerian Ambassador to Togo, Ambassador Sola Iji, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Akure, the state capital.

Ambassador Iji reaffirmed the group’s unwavering loyalty to the APC and President Tinubu, describing their commitment as “uncompromising and deeply rooted in progressive ideology.”

“Our commitment and loyalty to the party and the government cannot be compromised,” he said. “We cannot and must not allow the Aborigines to be counted among those seeking to weaken the government or sow disunity in our great party.”

According to him, the meeting was convened to re-energise members and consolidate the group’s resolve to work as a united political force dedicated to the success of both President Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He emphasised that Ondo State has always maintained its reputation as the “progressive capital of Nigerian politics,” recalling that the state recorded the highest percentage of votes for the APC in the last presidential election.

“In the last election, Ondo State delivered 67 percent — the highest in the country. This time, we must do even better,” he said.

Dismissing suggestions that the Aborigines were forming a parallel structure within the APC, Iji explained that the group’s activities were designed to complement existing party frameworks through effective grassroots mobilisation.

“Our efforts are to support the structures already in place at both state and federal levels. We aim to deliver an additional 400,000 votes through our extensive grassroots network,” he stated.

The group, he added, will focus on door-to-door mobilisation rather than social media campaigns, deploying five canvassers per polling unit to ensure efficient voter engagement and results delivery.

Ambassador Iji commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for creating an enabling environment for political groups to operate freely and Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his continuous encouragement and support.

“We appreciate the governor for allowing independent groups like ours to thrive, and we thank the Honourable Minister for his encouragement and consistent support toward achieving this mission,” he said.

The Ondo APC Aborigines reaffirmed their determination to deliver overwhelming victory for President Tinubu in 2027, pledging to maintain the state’s legacy as a bastion of progressive politics in Nigeria.
