The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Enu-Owa Division, over his unprofessional handling of a case involving social media influencer Adefolarin Ayomiposi, popularly known as Mandykiss.
The directive followed a viral video showing Mandykiss recording and taking photographs of two female suspects in police custody at Enu-Owa Division, a development that has stirred public outrage.
According to a statement signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, preliminary investigations revealed that Mandykiss was not accompanied by any police personnel during the alleged arrest.
She was reportedly assisted by her online followers in locating the suspects, Mrs. Akinwole Sabitu and her daughter, Miss Akinwole Oyindamola, who were accused of cyberbullying.
After handing them over to the police, the influencer allegedly went on to take pictures and make video recordings within the station premises, posting them on social media — an action described as a breach of police ethics and due process, especially as the suspects were yet to be tried in court.
The Commissioner of Police, in reaction, condemned the DPO’s failure to uphold proper supervision and described his conduct as “a lapse in professional judgment.” He stressed that the Command would not tolerate any behavior capable of eroding public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
“Recording or photographing suspects in custody is a violation of established procedures and ethical standards,” CP Lawal stated, reiterating his commitment to discipline, accountability, and respect for the rights of all parties in police operations.
He assured that the redeployment signals the Command’s renewed determination to enforce professionalism and maintain public trust.
