••• Calls for Urgent Road Safety Action
A senatorial aspirant for Ondo North, Afolabi Momoh Mogaji, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic truck accident that claimed eight lives in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.
In a condolence statement made available to newsmen on Friday, Mogaji described the incident as “deeply saddening and heartbreaking,” while commiserating with the families of the victims and the entire Akungba community.
He urged residents to remain resilient in the face of the tragedy and called on relevant authorities to take swift action to prevent future occurrences.
“Our hearts go out to the families who lost loved ones in this unfortunate incident. May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may those left behind find strength and courage to endure this difficult period,” Mogaji said.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain appealed to government agencies, humanitarian bodies, and well-meaning Nigerians to rally support for the bereaved families and provide needed assistance to ease their pain.
He also emphasized the need for enhanced road safety measures and responsible infrastructure development, noting that recurring truck accidents in Akungba and other parts of Ondo North demand urgent government intervention.
“This tragedy should be a wake-up call to redesign and enforce safety measures on our roads, especially in accident-prone areas,” he added.
