In a major step toward improving security and community development, the lawmaker representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. (Dr) Oluwatimehin Adelegbe, has commenced the installation of 3,000 solar-powered street lights across communities in his constituency.

Adelegbe, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions, said the initiative reflects his dedication to delivering the dividends of democracy and fulfilling his campaign promises to the people.

He explained that the solar street lights are being strategically installed in both urban and rural areas to enhance visibility at night, promote safety, and support economic activities after dark.

According to the lawmaker, the intervention goes beyond illuminating major roads and public spaces, as it now extends to Churches, Mosques, Security offices, and the residences of traditional rulers, community leaders, and heads of non-indigene associations.

Adelegbe noted that the inclusion of diverse beneficiaries demonstrates his belief in equitable representation and the need to reach every segment of society. “This project is not just about lighting streets; it is about empowering communities and improving lives,” he stated.

He added that the solar-powered approach aligns with global trends in renewable energy and supports Nigeria’s transition toward cleaner, sustainable power solutions.

Residents of Owo and Ose have lauded the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will boost local security, reduce crime, and enhance the overall beauty of the communities.
