A Nigerian woman, Sumayya Hamman Adama, from Adamawa State, has narrated how her husband divorced her because she delivered their two children through Caesarean Section (CS).
Sumayya shared the heartbreaking experience on Sunday, November 16, 2025, while responding to a Facebook post by Buithat Hudu, who criticised men who treat their wives as “less of a woman” for giving birth through CS.
According to Sumayya, her husband ended their marriage solely because she had both children via surgical delivery. She added that their first child died after the divorce.
“I have gone through this for the first and second birth, he divorce me because I was giving birth through CS. He can’t stay with me.
But Alhamdulillah for everything. I lost the first baby, I am now with the second born. Alhamdulillah. May Almighty Allah rewards and bless anyone that is going through hard times,” she wrote.
Earlier, Hudu had condemned men who attribute CS scars to a woman’s character, saying such attitudes were “nauseating.”
In her post, she wrote:
“The way some men speak about their wives as if they were not birthed by a woman is nauseating.
“How the hell do you attribute a CAESARIAN SECTION scar to the character of a woman? Your mother failed you seriously.
“The same thing she went through in bringing you to the world, is same thing your wife goes through to bring forth your ‘own’ children to the world.
“But all of a sudden, you think your mother is more of a woman than your wife? If you can cherish your mother for bearing you, you should also cherish your wife for bearing your children.”
