Former Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Solagbade Amodeni, has strongly countered the lawmaker representing Ondo Senatorial District, Senator Jide Ipinsagba’s claim that his greatest political hostility comes from his hometown, Ikare-Akoko.
Reacting to the senator’s remarks—captured in a viral video posted by a blogger Seun Aruwajoye—Amodeni said the backlash against the lawmaker is not limited to Ikare but also comes from communities that feel abandoned by his representation.
Amodeni, a respected political figure recently described by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as “a man who stands by the truth”, declared that many residents across Akoko land are dissatisfied with the senator’s performance.
In his words:
“Hnmmmm. Senator, you got it wrong. Many of us outside Ikare have vowed to openly campaign against you at the appropriate time.
“I have not actually seen anything of great value you have done for my Local Government, Akoko South-East, or for any of our youth, except the stipend you occasionally give to two or three leaders whom we know are purchasable any time. Time will surely tell.”
Amodeni’s criticism directly challenges Ipinsagba’s assertion that Ikare people “never see anything good in their products” and are the source of his “greatest political heat.”
His response also carries weight given the glowing public endorsement recently given by Aiyedatiwa, who, at Amodeni’s 70th birthday ceremony, praised him as “a man of courage, principle, and enterprise” and “a steadfast ally who believes in truth and justice.”
Aiyedatiwa added that Amodeni “stood by him when many chose to walk away,” describing the former commissioner as someone who remains resolute in turbulent times.
