Why I Joined APC — Victor Ogunmola Declares in Ondo

Ita-Ogbolu, the headquarters of Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, came alive at the weekend as top chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), party members, youth groups, and community leaders converged to formally receive renowned geoscientist and community advocate, Mr. Victor Ogunmola, into the ruling party.

The event, which attracted a large crowd, was led by the Ondo State Chairman of APC, Engineer Ade Adetimehin, alongside the Executive Chairman of Akure North LGA, party executives at state and local government levels, ward leaders, and supporters.

Declaring, Ogunmola said he Decision to join the APC was driven by a deep commitment to service, youth empowerment, and alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I am joining the APC not merely as a political step, but as a purposeful embrace of a platform that empowers professionals, youth, women, and community leaders to shape the destiny of our nation,” Ogunmola said.

He noted that the APC provides a structure where ideas can translate into policy and tangible development.

“This decision aligns with my belief in bold reforms that will stabilize our economy, strengthen security, and modernize our democratic institutions. I believe my voice, experience, and contributions can make meaningful impact from within the APC,” he added.

Ogunmola commended President Tinubu for infrastructural development, particularly the Akure–Ado Ekiti road, describing it as “transformational,” and praised the inclusion of Ondo indigenes in key national appointments.

He also lauded the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, citing improved security, road construction, workers’ welfare, water restoration projects, and economic growth across the state.

“What we are witnessing in Ondo State today is real and measurable progress. Peace, infrastructure, and renewed confidence in governance are evident,” he said.

Speaking on Akure North, Ogunmola applauded the local government chairman, Hon. Johnson Ogunbodude, for grassroots development initiatives, including road grading, welfare programmes for the elderly, and the construction of shop complexes.

“Akure North is rising. This is leadership that listens, leadership that cares, and leadership that delivers,” he stated.

Also speaking, the Chairman of APC Ward 1, Akure North LGA, Mr. Sunday Opokiti, formally presented Ogunmola to the state party leadership, describing his entry into the party as timely and significant.

Opokiti said the ward had long anticipated the arrival of a figure of Ogunmola’s calibre, noting that his decision to join the APC was driven by a genuine commitment to service.

“We are happy to receive him into Ward 1. We have been expecting someone like him in our party. He is coming to play active politics and he is a very responsible man,” Opokiti said.


He added that Ogunmola’s track record of community-focused interventions aligns with the core values of the APC.

“Our party is about the progress and welfare of the people, and he has consistently shown love for his community through the various intervention programmes he has initiated. He is a man capable of leading his people very well, and we welcome him with great joy,” he added.

Receiving the new member, APC State Chairman, Engineer Ade Adetimehin, described Ogunmola as a valuable addition to the party, saying his decision reflected APC’s growing appeal among accomplished professionals.

“Today, we are not just receiving a new member; we are receiving value, capacity, and experience into our party,” Adetimehin said.

He praised Ogunmola’s track record of service and philanthropy, noting that the large turnout was evidence of his influence and acceptance.

“You can see the calibre of people who came out to receive him. That tells you the kind of person he is and what he brings to APC,” he added.

Adetimehin also reaffirmed the unity of the APC in Ondo State and expressed confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu.

“President Tinubu is a God-sent leader at this critical time. The economy is gradually picking up, food prices are coming down, subsidy pressures are easing, and infrastructure development is visible across the country,” he said.


The colourful ceremony featured music, cheers from party faithful, and symbolic acceptance of Ogunmola as an APC member in Ward 1, Akure North LGA, with broom, marking what party leaders described as a strategic boost to the party’s strength in the area.
