••• Ilaje Gets One Road, No Commissioned Projects
A legal practitioner based in Ondo State, Mr. Wale Omolegbon Odusola, has lamented what he described as the neglect of Ilaje Local Government Area in the 2025 budget of the Ondo State Government.
In a Facebook post made on Tuesday, Odusola recalled that before his arrest by the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, he had carefully studied the 2025 budget and warned the people of Ilaje to lower their expectations.
According to him, the budget approved only one road project for Ilaje, with a proposed cost of N500 million, a development he said was grossly inadequate for the oil-rich coastal area.
“Before I was arrested by Mr. Aiyedatiwa’s government, I read the 2025 budget and told Ilaje to forget about 2025 because only one road project was approved for Ilaje, and the value was just N500 million,” he wrote.
Odusola claimed that events had validated his earlier warning, noting that no single project had been commissioned in Ilaje so far this year.
“Today, like a prophet who sees tomorrow, what I said has come to pass. No single project was commissioned in Ilaje,” he added.
The legal professional further expressed concern about the future, stating that he was already looking forward to the 2026 budget in order to assess what lies ahead for the area.
He ended the post on a sarcastic note, suggesting resignation to the situation while awaiting the next budget cycle.
Odusola’s comments have since generated reactions on social media, with many users expressing frustration over what they perceive as the marginalisation of Ilaje communities in state development planning.
