The Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday hosted Christian faithful under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to a Christmas fun-fair in Okeagbe Akoko, Ondo State, as part of activities marking the yuletide season.

The colourful celebration attracted CAN members from across Ondo State, who gathered to mark the birth of Jesus Christ in an atmosphere of joy, fellowship and prayers.

Speaking at the event, the Minister, who was represented by Hon. Fafunmilade Adetilewa, described Christmas as a season of love, reflection and sacrifice.

He urged Christians to use the festive period to spiritually intervene on behalf of the nation through prayers for peace, unity and progress.

According to him, Nigeria requires collective goodwill and divine guidance, adding that Christmas should remind believers of their responsibility to promote peace, show compassion and contribute meaningfully to nation-building beyond mere celebration.

The guest speaker, the Rt. Reverend Bada, who is also the Bishop of Akoko Anglican Diocese, commended Tunji-Ojo for his performance as Minister of Interior, describing him as a man divinely chosen for leadership.

“Tunji-Ojo is a child of covenant and a chosen vessel of God. That is why the ministry he is heading is thriving. He is just starting and he will go higher,” the Bishop said.

The Chairman of CAN in Ondo State, the Very Reverend Father Anslem Ologunwa, represented by the State Secretary of CAN, Most Superior Rotimi Amos, called on leaders at all levels to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by being selfless, just and people-centred in governance.

He noted that leadership anchored on the fear of God remains the surest path to good governance and societal stability.

He also applauded the Minister for identifying with the Christian community during the festive season, describing the fun-fair as a unifying platform that reinforces shared values of faith, love and service.

The event featured carol renditions, prayers for the nation and moments of interaction among Christian faithful from across the senatorial district, rounding off the celebration in the true spirit of Christmas.
