The Ondo State Agricultural Empowerment Coalition (OSAEC) has lauded the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture and Agribusiness, Hon. Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola, for his visionary leadership and groundbreaking initiatives that are reshaping the state’s agricultural landscape.

In a statement released on Monday, OSAEC also commended Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa for his unwavering commitment to agricultural development, which has fostered an environment for innovation, productivity, and sustainable food security.

Describing Hon. Wemimo Akinsola as “a strategic reformer and result-driven administrator,” OSAEC highlighted his bold programs that are positioning Ondo State as a major agricultural hub in Nigeria and beyond.

Key Reforms Driving Growth

1. Farm Settlement Road Rehabilitation
One of the most impactful initiatives is the massive grading and rehabilitation of roads leading to farm settlements. The improved infrastructure has eased transportation of produce to urban markets, reduced post-harvest losses, lowered costs, and increased farmers’ profitability.

2. IITA Partnership for Farmer Training
Through collaboration with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ondo farmers now access specialized training in modern farming techniques, crop management, and agribusiness development. Participants also benefit from improved seedlings and cash support, fostering the growth of skilled agripreneurs and sustainable food production systems.

3. ‘Adiye Irorun’ Poultry Empowerment Program
The Adiye Irorun initiative equips farmers with modern poultry farming skills, mentorship, and material support. Beneficiaries are able to establish viable poultry businesses, generating steady income, employment, and increased protein availability in rural communities.

Positioning Ondo for Investment

OSAEC noted that these programs not only enhance local food systems but also position Ondo State as an attractive destination for foreign agricultural investment. With improved infrastructure, skilled manpower, and supportive policies, the state is becoming a competitive player in agribusiness and agro-processing.

“Under the leadership of Hon. Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola and Governor Ayedatiwa, our farmers are not just surviving—they are thriving,” the coalition stated, pledging continued support for policies that advance food security, agribusiness empowerment, and sustainable economic growth.
