Babcock Varsity High School Akure celebrates Excellence in Grand Style

It was a moment of pride and celebration at Babcock University High School, Akure, on Friday, July 25, 2025, as the school held its much-anticipated 3rd Prize and Award Ceremony to honour students who distinguished themselves in academics, character, and leadership during the academic year.

The colourful event, held at the school premises, attracted parents, guardians, education stakeholders, and well-wishers who gathered to witness the recognition of excellence and talent among the students.

The occasion was also used to celebrate JSS 3 students that have been promoted to the senior class ( SSS 1) as they were also inducted into the senior class.

In his welcome address, the Principal, Dr. M.K. Ibitoye, commended the students for their hard work, resilience, and discipline, while expressing appreciation to the parents and staff for their continuous support in shaping the future of the learners.

The event featured a variety of captivating performances and presentations that showcased the creativity and cultural richness of the students. Highlights included:

Choreography displays by both the junior and senior classes, which drew loud applause from the audience.

A captivating talking drum presentation, symbolizing the deep cultural roots of the school’s values.

A traditional cultural dance performance, which brought vibrancy and colour to the ceremony.

Musical renditions by the school choir, whose harmonies added a touch of solemnity and inspiration to the occasion.

Student presentations, including debates, poetry, and speeches on leadership and service.

The high point of the event was the presentation of prizes and awards to outstanding students in various categories — including Best in Academics, Most Disciplined Student, Best Behaved Student, Leadership Award, and Subject Excellence Awards.

In a remark, the chairperson of PTA, Mrs Akinsola-Oginnika Susan praised the school’s commitment to academic and moral excellence.

The PTA chairperson  congratulated the awardees and encouraged others to strive for greatness.

Parents left inspired by the display of excellence and the assurance that the future is indeed bright with the quality of minds being nurtured at Babcock University High School Akure.
