Not Office, But Purpose — Adeosun Vows as ASUP Ado-Ekiti Gets New Exco

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Chapter, has elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the union for the next two years, with Engr. Caleb Adeosun of the Department of Agricultural Bio-Engineering emerging as Chairman.

Adeosun, who was returned unopposed, was elected alongside other officials during the union’s election held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the institution’s Conference Hall.

In the hotly contested positions, Mr. Abdulrasaq Moruf Olarewaju of Liberal Studies polled 213 votes to defeat Mrs. Rhoda Omolade, who secured 116 votes, to emerge as Vice Chairman.

Mr. Valentine Adesanya FCA won the Welfare Officer position with 201 votes against Dr. Ezekiel Clinton Oroke, who recorded 123 votes. Similarly, Oyewale Oyelola of Mass Communication garnered 194 votes to defeat Mr. Adelana with 126 votes, thereby becoming the Public Relations Officer.

For the post of Financial Secretary, Mr. Oluboyede Jimoh (Survey and Geoinformatics) emerged victorious with 201 votes, ahead of Yusuf Jimoh who polled 123 votes.

Other officials elected unopposed include Dr. Barr. Omolola Fateropa (General Secretary), Lamidi Daniel (Treasurer), Oladele Owoyemi (Assistant General Secretary), and Kehinde Ajao (Internal Auditor).

The election, which was conducted under the supervision of the Electoral Committee chaired by Engr. Dr. Adeoye, culminated in the swearing-in of the new executives by the ASUP Zonal Coordinator for South West, Mr. Nurudeen Masopa.

In his acceptance speech, Adeosun described his emergence as a call to service, pledging to restore the union’s strength and relevance within the institution.

“Your vote was not just a choice, it was a voice crying for a revived union, a stronger structure, and leadership that truly listens and acts. Today, I pledge together with my team, not to occupy an office, but to activate a purpose — one of servant-leadership where welfare will be the highest priority and transparency our guiding light,” he said.


Adeosun emphasized that his administration would focus on fairness, justice, and transparency, while uniting members under one formidable umbrella.
