The Federal Government College (FGC) Idoani Alumni Association has honoured distinguished members for their contributions to the association, alma mater, and society at large.

The Immediate Past Secretary of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Ondo State, Dr. Gideon Olusola Bakare, emerged as the Most Outstanding Alumnus of the Year 2025 (Male Category).

Bakare, who also serves as President of the Akure Mega Chapter, received thunderous applause from colleagues for his leadership, dedication, and community impact.

Other honorees included Grace Oseyemi, who was recognized for her role in the Lagos Chapter, while the Akure Chapter clinched the overall trophy at the Alumnilympics Games.

Speaking after his decoration, Dr. Bakare urged alumni to deepen their involvement in the association’s activities and to remain committed to supporting their alma mater.

He emphasized teamwork among executive members, stressing that collective effort was the only way to guarantee member welfare and meaningful school development.

Bakare also acknowledged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for creating a supportive atmosphere that encourages alumni associations to play active roles in education.

He further paid tribute to past leaders of the Akure Mega Chapter who had consistently risen to the association’s challenges over the years.

Appealing to former students, private individuals, and philanthropists to join hands with government in funding education, Bakare noted that the burden was too heavy for government alone.

“Education remains the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering indigent children to build a brighter future. Alumni must take responsibility for mobilizing resources and creating opportunities for the next generation,” he declared.
