Ondo’s Future Lies with BTO, Says Former PDP Chieftain

by Roving

As political permutations continue ahead of the next Ondo State governorship election, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman and chieftain in the state, Zadok Akintoye, has openly declared support for Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO), describing him as the most competent choice to lead the state.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was sworn in February 2025 for a four-year term, is expected to complete his tenure before Ondo residents return to the polls to choose his successor.

In a statement posted on his social media platform, Akintoye, who said he had spent the last 18 years actively promoting good governance, urged the people to rally behind Tunji-Ojo.

He argued that the state could no longer afford to repeat “the same mistakes while hoping for a different outcome.”

“At this time in our lives, we cannot bypass an obviously well-trained and experienced public servant in our pursuit of success and development for Ondo State. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo has proven himself able to provide that,” Akintoye declared.

The former PDP stalwart criticised the government as “inconsiderate and ungrateful” and maintained that Ondo must embrace a leader with “visible and verifiable competence” rather than settle for political sentiment.

He concluded by throwing his weight behind the “MoveForwardONDO” campaign with Tunji-Ojo at the helm, stressing: “We can’t be so blessed and yet so backward.”

Mr Zadok Akintoye should please stop heating the polity in Ondo state. For the fact that you are feeding fat from BTO and as the same time his errand boy does not make you to lose your sense of reasoning. Ayedatiwa is still the governor today, and when he finishes his term and it is time to campaign, you can them start it. Please and please, don’t cause problem and confusion in Ondo state. Go on licking the boots of your principal and talk reasonably. Enough is enough
