The First-Class Traditional Rulers in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State have showered encomiums on the State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for what they described as an unprecedented gesture — the presentation of brand-new 2025 Toyota Fortuner SUVs to monarchs across the area.
Speaking on behalf of the royal fathers, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Olusegun Williams Akinyomi, the Paramount Ruler and Amapetu of Mahinland, hailed the Governor’s action as a “monumental and unprecedented act of respect” toward the traditional institution in the state.
“We are profoundly grateful to Governor Aiyedatiwa for this extraordinary demonstration of commitment to our welfare and to the dignity of our revered stools,” Oba Akinyomi said.
“The presentation of these modern Toyota Fortuner SUVs is not merely a logistical enhancement; it is a clear recognition of our vital role as custodians of culture and as the closest link between the government and the grassroots.”
The Ilaje Council of First-Class Obas noted that the SUVs — renowned for their durability and strength — will greatly enhance mobility across the riverine and coastal terrains of Ilajeland.
According to them, this will boost their ability to respond swiftly to community issues, strengthen peacekeeping efforts, and improve governance at the grassroots.
The monarchs further described the Governor’s gesture as a reaffirmation of his commitment to inclusive governance and respect for traditional leadership.
They also commended Aiyedatiwa for his consistency in fulfilling promises and for implementing various welfare programmes benefiting the people of Ondo State.
In their collective statement, the royal fathers pledged unwavering loyalty and support to Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration, vowing to work hand-in-hand with the government in sustaining peace and development across Ilaje and the entire state.
“This gesture shall forever be appreciated. We are proud of our Governor and his vision for a united, peaceful, and prosperous Ondo State,” Oba Akinyomi added.
The event, held in Igbokoda, drew significant attention across the coastal communities, marking yet another milestone in Governor Aiyedatiwa’s ongoing engagement with traditional institutions in the state.
