A member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Nelson Komolafe, representing Ifedore state constituency has launched a scathing attack on the current leadership of the legislative arm, accusing it of corruption, arrogance, and moral decay.
In a strongly worded statement titled “An Imposed Bad Leadership in Ondo State House of Assembly: A Tragic Derailment of Purpose and a Call for Divine Conscience,” Komolafe described the Assembly as “a theatre of deceit and oppression” rather than the conscience of the people.
“The Ondo State House of Assembly, which should serve as a beacon of hope, has become a shadow of its purpose,” he said. “Bribes have replaced conscience, and oppression has silenced the spirit of justice.”
Quoting biblical references, Komolafe warned that the current leadership risks divine judgment for its alleged misdeeds. “When the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn,” he quoted from Proverbs 29:2, adding that “pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
He likened the situation to historical examples of failed leadership, including Adolf Hitler, General Sani Abacha, and S.L. Akintola, warning that “no corrupt regime escapes divine retribution.”
Komolafe listed five inevitable consequences of bad leadership: divine punishment, leadership downfall, judgment, suffering of the people, and the collapse of arrogant power.
He urged members of the Assembly to embrace humility and restore integrity to governance. “Leadership without integrity is failure, and power without God is ruin,” he said.
The lawmaker’s comments come amid rising tension within the Assembly following allegations of internal divisions, corruption, and executive influence over legislative affairs.
