Ondo @50: Aiyedatiwa Declares Two-Day Public Holiday

by Roving

The Ondo State Government has declared Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the creation of the state.

The declaration was approved by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to enable residents to fully participate in activities marking the golden jubilee of Ondo State, a historic milestone celebrating five decades of growth, resilience, and collective progress.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor called on citizens to use the holiday period to take part in the celebrations, reflect on the state’s journey over the past 50 years, and recommit themselves to the shared vision of building a more prosperous, united, and forward-looking Ondo State.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, however, advised providers of essential services to make adequate arrangements to ensure uninterrupted service delivery throughout the holiday period.

Ondo State was created on February 3, 1976, and the 50th anniversary celebrations are expected to attract wide participation from residents, stakeholders, and indigenes within and outside the state.
