Adesuyan Emerges Chairman as Ondo Online Media Professionals Elect New Executives

Joseph Adesuyan has emerged as the new Chairman of the Ondo State Online Media Professionals (OMP) following the association’s keenly contested 2025 election.

The results, officially announced by the Chairman and Secretary of the Electoral Committee, Richard Ilesanmi and Kayode Animasaun showed Adesuyan polling 11 votes to defeat his only challenger, Temitope Adedeji, who secured 3 votes.

Other winners in the election include Agidi Mary, who was returned unopposed as Treasurer with 13 votes, and Isaac Afolabi, who also scored 13 votes to clinch the position of Financial Secretary. The committee declared the election free of void votes.

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Joseph Adesuyan, expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to lead with dedication, integrity, and commitment to the growth of the association.

Adesuyan also extended an olive branch to his co-contestant, Temitope Adedeji, urging him to join hands in building a stronger, united OMP. “Together, we will achieve great things. We are all winners,” he declared.

The election attracted congratulatory messages from stakeholders in the media industry.

Prince Kunle Ariyo, hailed the new leadership, describing their emergence as a reflection of members’ confidence in their professionalism and vision for digital journalism. He urged them to promote credible reporting, ethical practices, and innovation in the profession.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, Prince Leke Adegbite, congratulated the new leaders and prayed for divine wisdom to enable them deliver effectively on their mandate.

The smooth conduct of the election and the widespread goodwill messages that followed have been seen as a positive sign for the association, which plays a strategic role in shaping public discourse through online platforms in Ondo State.
