As Ondo State marks its 50th anniversary, Engineer Tomiwa Aregbesola has extended warm congratulations to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the people of the Sunshine State, describing the Golden Jubilee as a moment of deep reflection, gratitude and renewed commitment to the future.
In a congratulatory message commemorating the historic milestone, Aregbesola paid glowing tribute to the founding fathers of Ondo State, visionary leaders, patriots and trailblazers whose sacrifices, courage and foresight laid the foundation for the state’s existence and progress.
He also celebrated the resilience, industry and rich culture of the people across generations, noting that their collective efforts have sustained the state through changing times.
According to him, fifty years of statehood represents more than the passage of time, but a celebration of identity, endurance and destiny. He said the anniversary offers a solemn opportunity to honour past sacrifices, assess present realities and deliberately shape a more promising future for the state.
Aregbesola noted that Governor Ayedatiwa assumed office at a defining moment in Ondo State’s history, describing him as a leader with clear vision, steady character and a calm, consultative approach to governance.
He added that the governor’s commitment to continuity and long-term planning reflects a leadership style suited to the present season of reflection and development.
He commended the Ayedatiwa administration for re-engineering the state’s financial architecture, strengthening government’s balance sheet and restoring fiscal discipline.
He further highlighted ongoing efforts to lay the foundation for a sustainable economic base through strategic engagement with transformative projects, including the deep-sea port initiative, refinery and petrochemical development, and the revamp of the state’s industrial assets, which he described as signals of a future-focused economy anchored on productivity and value creation.
As the Golden Jubilee celebrations unfold, Aregbesola observed that public expectations are expanding beyond ceremonial activities, with growing conversations around inclusive governance, institution-building, economic expansion and human capital development.
He said attention is increasingly shifting towards policies and actions that unlock opportunities, build confidence, promote unity across communities and secure long-term prosperity for the people of the state.
He expressed hope that the 50th anniversary would mark a renewed commitment to strategic development and shared prosperity, adding that Governor Ayedatiwa’s administration should be remembered not only for its immediate achievements but for how it positions Ondo State for greater relevance, competitiveness and stability in the decades ahead.
Aregbesola concluded by congratulating the governor and the people of Ondo State once again, expressing optimism that the next fifty years of the Sunshine State would surpass the first.
